06.30 AM Pick up from Bangalore
Since mysore is about 3 and a half hours drive away from Bangalore and there is much to see for the travellers, we will plan to leave early morning at around 06.30 from your home in Bangalore. You will be well picked up by our driver who will take you to Mysore for a Day tour.
09.00 AM : Visit Srirangapatana
Dedicated to Hindu God Ranganatha, the famous Sri Ranganathaswamy temple in Srirangapatana is situated in the Mandya district of the state of Karnataka on Bangalore-Mysore route. Formed by Cauvery river the rocky island of Srirangapatana town was the citadel for Mysore Kingdom for many decades.
After paying a visit to Sri Ranganathaswamy temple continue drive to Mysore to reach Chamundi Hill before noon time when the Bull temple gets closed for the visitors as a normal practice. If we reach late we will have no permission to go inside the temple.
11.30 AM : Chamundi Hill Temple
The Chamundeshwari Templeis located on the top of Chamundi Hills about 13 km from the palace city of Mysore in the state of Karnataka in India. The Bull temple of Chamundi Hill is dedicated to the Vahana (vehicle) of Lord Shiva. Internationally known as the largest Nandi murthi in the world, The Nandi (Bull) Temple is simply an alluring sight to explore in Bangalore. Erected in 1537, it houses a huge statue, depicting the sacred bull. Neo-Dravidian-style building, once the seat of the state administration of Karnataka has worth to behold. Additionally, impressive Vidhana Soudha is an imposing sight of this temple.
According to Hindu mythology Nandi is considered as the vehicle of Lord Shiva. The story goes that the famous Nandi Bull temple of Mysore was built to calm down a bull that used to destroy the groundnuts and peanuts cultivated in the area. Soon after the temple was built the bull stopped damaging the crops and the farmers of the area celebrated this incident as a festival which is celebrated here till date and people in large number take participation in this festival.
01.00 PM : Lunch break at Mysore
We will then proceed to a city restaurant to have a break while enjoying our delicious meal.
02.00 PM : Visit Mysore Palace
Situated in the heart of the Mysore city, the magnificent building of Mysore palace is the residence of Maharajas of Mysore. The beautifully designed palace of Mysore is a not to be missed site for the travellers especially when it is fully decorated with lights during Sundays and festive occasions. The palace is beautiful from outside as well as from inside. The well designed spacious halls, paintings, beautifully carved pillars etc catches the attention of the visitors.
This palace has now been converted into an art gallery which provides you with a vast collection of painting, sculptures and musical instruments. Visit the legends of Mysore, Mysore Palace and St. Philomena’s Church Later return back to the for night stay.
04.30 PM : Deveraja Spice Market
Having visited some of the finest monuments and temples in Mysore we now go to the famous Deveraja Spice market. Spend some time here and if interest one can buy spices and other souvenirs for friends and relatives.
06.30 PM : Brindavan Garden
Famous for its symmetrical designs, the Brindavan garden of Mysore is one of the most beautifully laid out terrace gardens not only in India but the entire world. Lying adjoining to the Krishnaraja Sagar Dam this garden is visited by over 2 million tourists every year. Modelled on the beautiful Shalimar gardens of Kashmir, the Brindavan garden was an achievement for dewan of Mysore Sir Mirza Ismail. The garden is beautifully laid out in 3 terrace with water fountains, shrubs and trees, parterres, running and cascading water channels, flower beds. One can also enjoy boating in the pond midst the garden. During the boating the visitors can also see the famous statue of Goddess Kaveri.
08.00 PM : Drive back to Bangalore
