Mumbai Heritage Walk tour is the walk around the city’s heritage precincts. The walks aim to raise the awareness of the people of Mumbai and visitors, about the city's architecture and heritage monuments.
08.30 AM : Start the walk from Colaba
Start the sightseeing with the Mumbai’s most famous heritage monument Gateway of India. This is the starting point for most tourists who want to explore the city. It was built as a triumphal arch to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Bombay in December 1911. .
08.50 AM : Regal Theatre
Then we walk towards the regal theatre the first of Bombay Art Deco cinemas. Regal Cinema was fully air conditioned, and had an underground parking lot for patrons. There was a lift up from the parking lot, major innovation at that time.
09.10 AM : Pricnes of Wales museum
Later we visit Prince of Wales Museum building from outside.
09.30 AM : Library, University and High Court building
Visit the Mumbai University and David Sasoon library. Next to the University is the High Court of Mumbai.
09.50 AM Flora Fountain,
We now walk to the Flora Fountain. This is a stone fountain situated in Fort business district in the heart of South Mumbai. Flora Fountain was built in 1864. The fountain depicts the Roman Goddess Flora. It is now a heritage structure. It was erected by the Agri‐horticultural society of Western India.
10.00 AM : Victoria Terminus
Now proceed to the Victoria Terminus Railway Station now called the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus which is a historic railway station and serves as the headquarters of the Central Railways. The station was designed by Frederick William Stevens, a consulting architect in 1887‐1888, for the princely sum of 16.14 lakh rupees. The station stands as an example of 19th century railway architectural marvels for its advanced structural and technical solutions. It was put on the UNESCO World Heritage List on July 2, 2004.
Stop at Victoria terminus to click some beautiful pictures and then proceed to the next building.
10.30 AM : Jehangir Art Gallery
Now a time to take a short taxi ride of 10 minutes from VT Station to a local cafe with a nostalgic background, Cafe Samovar located in Jehangir Art Gallery. This Gallery displays of the most sought‐after venues for artists to exhibit their oeuvres. One can stroll around the gallery and can browse through the various painting. The 44 year old landmark eatery started as a cafe catering to artists in Bombay which soon became the city's cultural hub. It also houses natesans, the country's oldest licensed antique dealers. Don't be surprised if a world‐famous painter is sitting next to you, sipping tea. Tea / Coffee with light snacks shall be served to you.
11.00 AM : Back to your hotel
Walk back to your hotel with historic memories of the wonderful city of Mumbai
