Overview

The third largest city of the state of Gujarat, Vododara or Baroda, is also the administrative headquarters of the district. It is aptly called the cultural capital of Gujarat with presence of many art galleries, palaces and museums. Plan your day visiting the Sayaji Baug, Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum, the Laxmi Vilas Palace, Baroda Museum and Art Gallery and Kirti Mandir to name a few. Chinese and Japanese porcelain, Indian miniatures, contemporary Indian and Greek-Roman art exhibits form the royal treasury at the Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum. Shish Mahal at the Nazar Bagh Palace is an impressive sight. Relish on local Gujarati cuisine after a long day of travel. Hand crafted furniture, colorful textiles and other handicraft items can be picked from various shops in Lehripura Mandir Bazaar, Teen Darwaza and Mandvi and Raopura. By rail: Vadodara Junction (BRC) is a railway station which connects all the major cities in the country.

By air: Vadodara Airport (BDQ) is the domestic airport which is 5kms from the city. For international flight one can arrive in Ahmedabad airport (AMD) and Mumbai airport (BOM).
