Keeping up with the rich Rajasthani tradition of intricately carved temples and imposing Forts, the city of Udaipur offers another peek into the history of Mewar. Aptly called the ‘Venice of the East’, with its many lakes and palaces among the majestic Aravalli range, every nook and corner of Udaipur is dipped in its glorious past. As the sun sets and the lights sparkle, the city’s beauty shimmers in the Lake Pichola. A boat ride to the Jag Mandir through the Lake to view sun set is an experience to remember. The grandiose City Palace is another striking sight with its display of royal armory, intricately carved facades and glass work detailing. The fairy tale like Lake Palace with its milky white stone is a romantic getaway. Places of interest within the city include the Saheliyon ki Bari, Bhartiya Lok Kala Museum, Jagdish Temple and the Monsoon Palace. Souvenir hunting is a happy exercise with countless shops around offering miniature paintings, carved wooden items, decorative mirror work pieces etc on day tour to Udaipur.
