Rishikesh, in Uttarakhand as a tourism destination is an ideal spot for both adventure and pilgrimage. With its picturesque mountains lush green with tall trees and shrubs and river Ganga running along with you throughout the city, Rishikesh, known as The Gateway to the Garhwal Himalayas, happens to be the perfect spot to attain peace and tranquility. An adventure enthusiast’s delight is white water rafting at Shivpuri, Brahmpuri, Marine Drive and Kaudilya. Other adventure activities include bungee jumping, flying fox and the excitement of being on the giant swing can be had at Mohan Chatti, which is about 15kms from Lakshman Jhula. For the foodies there are numerous road side dhabas that serve vegetarian food mostly. Lakshman Jhula is a spot that visitors flock too to in obeisance to their gods and also feed the beautiful multi-coloured fishes. How to visit:

By road: Rishikesh by road is well connected by road to other Indian cities. One can get Govt Buses for Rishikesh from New Delhi, Haridwar and Dehradun. Private tour operators also offer the private cars and coaches

By rail: Haridwar Junction (HW) is a railway station, to reach Rishikesh at 35 kms from Rishikesh. Rishikesh has Railway connectivity with very limited trains. From Haridwar one can hire taxi or an auto rickshaw to reach Rishikesh.

By air: Jollygrant airport (DED) Dehradun is nearest airport to Rishikesh which is 25 kms from here. Air India, Jet Konnect & Spice Jet are major airlines which have daily flights from Delhi to Dehradun.
