Spread over 392 sq. km. area, the Ranthambore National Park in Rajasthan is the abode of the Indian Tiger. It was declared a national park in the year 1981 and is also part of the Project Tiger, a program initiated to save the tigers from extinction. If you are lucky enough, you will be able spot the big cat probably out for a kill. The Ranthambore National Park is also home to the wild boar, wild cats, hyenas and deer. The Ranthambore fort within the premises of the national park along with three pristine lakes, Padam Talab, Rajbagh Talab and Malik Talab are popular with tourists. It is advisable to check the opening and closing months of the national park before planning a trip. The park is any photographers delight with its thriving wildlife. There are a number of government and private restaurants offering good food. A short trip to the historical cities of Sawai Madhopur and Tonk can also be planned while visiting Ranthambore.
By road: The roads nearby Ranthambhore are ok according to the Indian standards and are connected to the other states. However the best option is to travel by train.
By rail: Sawai Madhopur (SWM) is the train station in Ranthambhor area, which is well connected to the other major trains. The luxury train palace on wheels also takes a halt here.
By air: The Jaipur Sanganer Airport (JAI) is the nearest airport at a distance of 180 ks, which is connected to the other major cities well.
