Situated at an altitude of 2130 meters, this quaint town in the state of Jammu and Kashmir is heaven on earth. Pahalgam, for many tourists, is also the base camp for the much popular Amarnath yatra. For the outgoing and daredevils there is white water rafting and trekking during summers and skiing during winters. A number of trekking routes like the Amarnath yatra, Aru Chandanwari and Kolahoi Glacier to name a few can be enjoyed. A family picnic beside the gushing waters of the snow fed Lidder on a summer day is a must. And so is a visit to the Mamal Shiva temple. Another major attraction of Pahalgam is its 9-Hole golf course. Imagine a game or two at an altitude of 2400 meters and that too for free! Enjoy an array of ambrosial Kashmiri cuisine at any of the many restaurants in Pahalgam. For shopaholics there is a variety of delicately embroidered shawls, phirans, carpets, wall hangings and tea cozies to choose from.

How to visit:

By road: Pahalgam can be reached from Srinagar and Anantnag, which leave at fixed time from the Bus stands. Taxis can be hired from Srinagar at pre-fixed rates.

By rail: : The nearest railway station is Jammu junction (JAT) which is 290 kms. The finest Highway connects the Kashmir Valley well.

By air: The nearest airport is in Srinagar airport, which is 96-km from Pahalgam. This Airport is connected with all the major cities of India.
