Overview
Winding snake like roads and tea gardens spreading as far as the eye can see. This is how Munnar in the state of Kerala greets tourists. A stroll by the lush green tea gardens into the misty blue skies will freshens up you instantly. Munnar is not your quintessential hill station full of tourists; it is for those who seek calm and a peaceful holiday, quiet walks into its many spice gardens, trout fishing and sessions of tea tasting. You can plan a visit to the Echo Point, Elephant Lake, Tata Tea Museum or the Mattupetty Dam. There are a number of spice gardens that arrange guided tours into the gardens. Roadside food stalls selling street food are to die for. Marayoor, which is 40 kilometers from Munnar, is known for its sandalwood forests that full of a musky fragrance. Further 20 kilometers from Marayoor is the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary. If you are lucky enough, you can spot a tiger or two here on a India group or day tour to Munnar.

By road: The state transport or private buses by tour operators are available from all major cities in Kerala to get to Munnar. Once can also drive to Munnar while enjoying the scenic beauty of Munnar.
By rail: The nearest railway station from Munnar is at Aluva (AWY), at a distance of 110 kilometres from Munnar. The Ernakulam Railway Station (ERS) at Cochin is 130 kilometres away and the Madurai Junction Railway Station (MDU) is at a distance of 135 kilometres.
By air: The nearest airport to reach Munnar is the Cochin International Airport (COK), which is 110 kilometres away by road. The Madurai International Airport (IXM) is 140 kilometres away from Munnar. The state transport or private buses facility is available at Cochin and Madurai airport to get to Munnar.
