Mumbai – in Maharashtra, dons many hats. Being the financial epicenter of India, it attracts thousands of people every year. The Hindi film industry, popularly known as Bollywood, is also based in Mumbai. The city derives its name from the local goddess ‘Mumbadevi’. This giant city is a juxtaposition of the old and the new, colonial and modernist, be it its culture, architecture or daily humdrum. The vast sea that brims the city has been a witness to its changing landscape. Sightseeing in Mumbai is incomplete without a visit to the famous Gateway of India. Tourists usually catch a ferry from here to visit the Elephanta Caves. The Chowpatty beach and the famous Marine Drive are other hotspots. While at the beach do enjoy local snacks, Bombay pao and Bhelpuri with cutting chai. Other must visit tourist attractions include Victoria Terminus, presently called the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, the Prince of Wales Museum, National Gallery of Modern Art, Nehru Planetarium to name a few. When shopping on your mind then Colaba Causeway, Chor Bazaar and Fashion Street are must shop places during your India day and group tours to Mumbai.
