UNESCO World Heritage site Khajuraho, in Madhya Pradesh, is known for its cluster of Hindu and Jain temples. These temples are popular for their amorous rock carvings. The Vindya range of mountains form a beautiful backdrop for this place making it a fascinating destination to visit. The amorous / erotic carvings and stunning sculptures that wrap Khajuraho’s temples are considered as world’s finest temple art. The week-long Khajuraho Dance Festival, annually held in February/March, attracts classical dance artists and spectators from far & wide. Tourists flock in during the season owning taking advantage of the weather and also enjoy festivity and the art. These temples & their workmanship are a manifestation of Indian aesthetics. The amorous sculptures depicting Kama Sutra are unique and represent the Indo-Aryan architecture. These temples cannot be ignores due to their forbidden art as they have many revered Gods of Hinduism carved.

How to visit:

By road: Khajuraho is connected by regular bus services with Mahoba, Harpalpur, Satna, Jhansi, Gwalior, Agra, Jabalpur & Bhopal. A number of private agencies and govt transport also run bus services to places across the country.

By rail: Khajuraho (KURJ) has its own rail head. Apart from that, the other nearest railheads are Mahoba (MBA) which is 64 km and Harpalpur (HPP) which is 94 km. Jhansi Junction (JHS) 175 km and Satna (STA) 117 km are convenient railheads for visitors from Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, Chennai, Agra & Varanasi.

By air: Khajuraho airport (HJR) is connected to Delhi & Agra with regular flights.
